Stranger things have happened…
I’ve had some amazing clients over the years. I’ve also been into American Football for more years than I care to remember (ever since Channel 4 started showing it on the TV in 1982); so when I was offered the chance to combine my love for the game and work for the Jacksonville Jaguars, I couldn’t turn it down.
Every year, as part of the regular NFL season (and the NFL International Games series), the Jacksonville Jaguars play a home game at Wembley Stadium. Working with the Wasserman Experience agency since the summer of 2023, I’ve created fan zone graphics for two Jaguars’ home games at Wembley Stadium as well as subsidiary events in Manchester, Bristol and Dublin.
Over the last year or so, I’ve created a very large number of items for the team ranging from wayfinding/maps to ultra-large format artwork (the largest being a panel that was 9.6m wide x 3m high). Last year, I was privileged to get tickets for the game (third row, at the 15 yard line) and I was able to see my work in the real world.
I act as brand guardian when I’m working with the Jags – making sure the images are up-to-scratch and have the correct colours in place (last year, I had to colour-correct the images as the new photographer had provided them all washed out).
And as you can imagine, I’ve become a bit of a fan of the team (taking that fandom around the world – especially on a cruise in late 2023). One day, my dream is to go to Jacksonville to see them at the Everbank Stadium. I’m sure it’ll happen…
2025 Update: I’m currently working on the 2025 Wembley Game graphics. New players, new management at the client’s end and a new spirit. Duuuval!
